Background
As a medical psychotherapist, with dual training I assess and manage complex cases, deal with issues of risk and take special responsibility for patients presenting with a combination of medical and psychological difficulties.
I’ve had 12 year’s experience working as a consultant psychiatrist within a London based NHS psychotherapy service, and for the past two years I have worked in an NHSE commissioned service for women with severe personality disorder with multiple comorbid mental and physical health problems.
I worked for a number of years in a service for sick health professionals, who may have been subject to bullying, harassment, bereavement or traumatised by serious incidents in their work place.
I currently work for the General Medical Council, offering health assessments & supervision to doctors who are referred due to fitness to practice concerns.

I can offer consultancy to teams, particularly if struggling with delayed discharges for patients with severe attachment disorders and I also provide reflective practice and Balint groups.

Approach
I practice psychiatry in a holistic way which takes into account my patient’s core beliefs, values and experiences. I pay attention to lifestyle and interpersonal factors that may be exacerbating or maintaining an illness, rather than having a narrow focus on medication.
Whilst medication can form part of recovery, in my experience it takes changes in a number of factors to bring about short term benefits and longer term change.
Patient experience is at the heart of my work: I am continually learning from my patients and value their views on how my service can be improved
Bespoke training
I have a wealth of experience in providing teaching & training to staff, service users and their families on mental health issues and wellbeing
